British Defense Minister Grant Shapps said on October 1 that Britain will deploy a number of Typhoon fighter jets to Poland at the request of this NATO ally.
`In response to Poland’s request, we will deploy Tyhoon fighter jets to Poland. As I said, this is aimed at supporting NATO allies in the face of growing concerns about Russian military action
Minister Shapps did not reveal the number or time of deployment of these aircraft.
The above agreement was made in the context of the war between Russia and Ukraine showing no signs of abating after more than a year of outbreak.
In a related development, British media said that four Typhoon fighter jets of the British Royal Air Force were deployed to Poland to participate in joint exercises with Poland, Spain and Italy.
This deployment allowed British pilots to practice aerial combat against different types of aircraft and develop tactics for exploiting enemy weaknesses.
After the joint exercise, these Typhoon aircraft continued to stay in Poland for another 2 weeks to practice different combat scenarios.
Britain has been one of the countries that has supported Ukraine the most since the Russia-Ukraine conflict broke out last February.
Guardian reported over the weekend that Minister Shapps said he had held talks with military leaders about possibly deploying British soldiers to Ukraine for the first time on a training mission for Kiev.
According to the British Ministry of Defense, 10 countries have been organizing training programs for the Ukrainian army.
Mr. Shapps’ information immediately faced a harsh reaction from Russia.
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak later corrected that the country had no plans to send military experts to train the Ukrainian army.
He emphasized that currently the UK only supports training of Ukrainian soldiers on British territory.
