Russian military website Avia Pro quoted sources saying that the Wagner company may merge with the Russian Guard and still retain its name, symbol and flag.

If this information is true, soldiers from the private military group could return to the front lines in Ukraine to fight.

According to journalist Anastasia Kashevarova, Wagner members appear to be active in the Northern Military District, joining other military groups such as Akhmat and Redut.

The source said that Redut has offered more attractive welfare conditions to recruit Wagner soldiers, including salary increases and benefits for veterans.

The Akhmat special unit is part of the Russian Guard, headquartered in the Russian Republic of Chechnya.

According to sources, Redut appears to be under the supervision of retired Russian colonel Andrey Troshev.

If Wagner truly merges with the Russian Guard, the group’s soldiers will have to sign a contract directly with the country’s Ministry of Defense, according to mandatory regulations from Moscow.

According to journalist Kashevarova, representatives of the Russian Guard and Wagner held negotiations on the possibility of a merger.

Russia has not yet officially commented on this information.

Speculation about Wagner’s future has increased after Russian private military company tycoon Yevgeny Prigozhin and other senior Wagner members died in a plane crash on August 23.

To date, the cause of the accident is unknown.

Wagner is a private military company headquartered in St.

After the failed rebellion at the end of June, boss Prigozhin and thousands of Wagner members agreed to move to Belarus – a Russian ally that shares borders with Ukraine and Poland.

However, recently released satellite images show that Wagner’s tent at Tsel base, Mogilev region, southeast of the capital Minsk, Belarus, has been dismantled, raising questions about the future.

At the end of August, Avia Pro quoted sources saying that Wagner’s new leader could be Anton Elizarov – who was a high-ranking commander and one of the key figures of the private military company.
