President Zelensky’s peace formula also calls for Russia to return four newly annexed territories as well as the Crimean peninsula.
However, Moscow has repeatedly rejected these demands and declared that peace can only be achieved if Ukraine becomes a neutral country, gives up its ambition to join NATO, and recognizes Russia’s annexation of four territories from Russia.
According to Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, by promoting President Zelensky’s peace formula, Kiev and the West are trying to downplay other peace initiatives and monopolize the proposal of Ukraine’s initiative right from the start.
Ms. Zakharova reiterated that Russia welcomes any diplomatic solution and is ready to respond to `really serious proposals`.
