Ukrainska Pravda quoted a source from the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) on September 15 saying that the SSU’s unmanned boat attacked the Russian Samum missile ship at the entrance to Sevastopol Bay in the Crimean peninsula, southern Ukraine.

According to SSU, the Ukrainian unmanned boat crashed into the right rear of the Samum ship, causing serious damage to the ship.

Sources said Russian forces had to tow the Samum for repairs `when the ship’s stern tilted significantly and tilted to the right side`.

Regarding this incident, the Russian Ministry of Defense also announced a Ukrainian attack on the Samum ship, but said this attack was repelled and the Ukrainian unmanned boat was destroyed.

Previously, Ukrainian forces announced that the country’s military conducted attacks on two Russian patrol ships in the southwest of the Black Sea at dawn on September 14, causing serious damage to these ships.

Attacks on the Crimean peninsula and nearby naval targets have increased significantly in recent weeks as Ukraine has stepped up its counteroffensive on its southeastern front.

The attacks mainly focused on Russian logistics routes to and from Crimea, as well as on ammunition depots of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, stationed in the port city of Sevastopol in Crimea.

In addition, the Kerch bridge connecting the Crimean peninsula with mainland Russia was also attacked many times.

On the morning of September 13, Ukraine attacked with missiles and suicide boats on a Russian shipbuilding and repair factory in the port city of Sevastopol.

The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed that 10 cruise missiles and 3 Ukrainian suicide boats targeted this facility, causing damage to 2 ships being repaired here.

Sevastopol is home to the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, and the shipyard here plays an important role in helping Moscow build and maintain its ships.

A Ukrainian security official said that the country’s military forces conducted an attack to destroy the S-400 long-range air defense complex deployed by Russia in the western part of the Crimean peninsula at dawn on September 14.

Earlier this week, Ukraine announced that its special forces had recently regained control of Boika Towers, an oil rig off the coast of Crimea.
