(Dan Tri) – Ukraine announced that one of Russia’s logistics lines on the Bakhmut front is within range and Kiev is trying to cut off the remaining logistics line.

`One of the roads we can target is Bakhmut – Horlivka, 3km from the line. This is the range of our mortars and drones,` said Illia Yevlash, head of the agency.

According to Ukrainian military officials, `Russia still has a number of logistics routes that they use to supply fighting forces in Bakhmut, these are routes leading from controlled territories.`

`However, we are continuing to cut off these routes and will continue to do so to cut off the resources of Russian forces on this front and inflict the most damage on them,` Yevlash said.

Last week, Ukrainian officials said that the Ukrainian Self-Defense Forces were controlling the Bakhmut – Horlivka road under direct fire, meaning supplying Russian units on this front has become much more difficult.

Bakhmut is a strategic city in Eastern Ukraine that Russia declared control over this summer.

The Bakhmut Front in Eastern Ukraine has heated up again in recent days as Ukraine continuously broke the siege and attacked to push back Russian forces.

On September 17, the Ukrainian army announced that it had regained control of the village of Klishchiivka, which is only 5km south of Bakhmut.

On September 18, Commander of the Ukrainian Ground Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi announced that Russia’s most elite and best-trained units were defeated and lost their combat effectiveness on the Bakhmut front.

He said Ukrainian forces were `tactically successful` in taking back the villages of Klishchiivka and Andriivka.

According to the spokesman for Ukraine’s eastern forces, Russia has concentrated 52,000 troops in the area near Bakhmut.

Despite losses and skepticism from Western partners, Ukraine continued its counteroffensive campaign in Bakhmut.

`Ukraine’s large-scale counteroffensive campaign around Bakhmut is necessary to keep Russian forces there,` the US-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW) said.

The Ukrainian army commander said that the Russian army was partially surrounded in Bakhmut and could not take advantage.
