(Dan Tri) – Ukraine announced an attack on Russian targets in Sevastopol, where the Black Sea Fleet is stationed in the Crimean peninsula.

The Russian Ministry of Defense said two of its military ships were damaged in a Ukrainian missile attack on a shipyard in the port city of Sevastopol on the Crimean peninsula in the early morning of September 13.

Russian media confirmed that the two damaged vehicles were the Kilo-class attack submarine Rostov-on-Don and the Ropucha Minsk-class landing ship.

Ukraine admitted attacking Russian naval targets and port infrastructure in Sevastopol.

`We confirmed that a large landing craft and submarine were hit. We do not comment on the weapons (used) for the attack,` Ukrainian military intelligence official Andriy Yusov told Reuters.

The Russian Defense Ministry said Ukraine attacked a shipyard in the Black Sea with 10 cruise missiles and three unmanned speedboats.

According to Sevastopol city authorities, at least 24 people were injured in the Ukrainian missile attack, including 4 seriously injured.

Some media channels reported that two people may have died in the attack.

Nikolay Oleshchuk, spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force, admitted Kiev was behind the attack.

Previously, Britain provided dozens of Storm Shadow cruise missiles to Ukraine to support the country in its armed conflict with Russia.

Rybar, a Russian military blogger, said the Ukrainian air force launched 10 Storm Shadow cruise missiles at the Sevastopol shipyard.

Rybar reported that air defense systems, including Pantsir-S1, shot down 7 missiles, while 3 Storm Shadow missiles hit targets including the Minsk landing ship and the Rostov-on-Don submarine, causing the

The city of Sevastopol is located on the southwest coast of Crimea.

Russia annexed the Crimean peninsula in March 2014 after a controversial referendum.

Attacks on the Crimean peninsula and nearby naval targets have increased significantly in recent weeks as Ukraine has stepped up its counteroffensive on its southeastern front.

The attacks mainly focused on Russian logistics routes to and from Crimea, as well as on ammunition depots of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.
